WHO WE ARE
Toit à Moi's history
One winter day, as he was giving a beggar some spare change, Denis Castin felt an urge to do more. His indignation triggered a very simple idea: what if we got together to find accommodation for these needy people? With Gwenaël Morvan’s help, they developed the project and founded the association. That was in 2007. Their initial purpose was to raise funds to provide accommodation for the homeless and recruit volunteers to give beneficiaries support and counseling.
Over time, the mode of action was defined more precisely and a few major principles have emerged: the association should be the owner of the apartments; the apartments should be disseminated across the city to foster social diversity; socializing is essential towards social integration, so both social workers and volunteers should be in charge of building social links…

Gouvernance
Initially, what united the people joining Toit à Moi was the cause. There are different ways for these people to act via the association. This is why the articles of association establish 7 committees representing the respective stakeholders in Toit à Moi: founders, beneficiaries, volunteers, sponsors, corporate sponsors, employees and resource people.
The Board of Directors determines Toi à Moi’s general guidelines. The Bureau monitors the association’s operation in compliance with the decisions made by Board of Directors and resolutions adopted at General Meetings.
